Astoria Energy Power Plant
|
|
Nab, in a joint venture, is currently constructing the Astoria Energy Turbine Building and Wind Wall. Our turnkey Design-Build contract calls for us to design, fabricate & erect not only the structure of the building, but also the mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems within. The Turbine Building is acoustically designed to limit the noise impact to the surrounding community from the combustion and steam turbines inside.

Nab
recently completed construction as General
Contractor for Con Eds 14th Street Power Plant alteration
project. Major alterations included removal of concrete floor slab
of multiple stories, masonry wall and structural steel at various
locations providing space for new turbines and other equipment.
Nab Construction Corporation performed the field measurement,

Brooklyn
Navy Yard Cogeneration Facility
|
|
The
Nab team solved major logistical challenges and placed a new 286
MW, $275 million cogeneration plant on line in one and one-half
years from the start of construction.
Nab leased one of the largest cranes in the world, a Demag CC-4800,
to erect the sixteen 64-foot-long, 290,000-pound HRSG boiler modules.
The crane lift, 326,300 lbs. at a maximum radius of 200 feet, was
the largest ever made at this radius in New York City.

Astoria
Generating Station
|
|
After
Con Ed converted its Astoria Station from coal to oil, Nab demolished
and removed four precipitators and the steel used to support them,
then installed new flues.
Logistics were complicated by the fact that vehicular access was
restricted to a single road on one side of the site. Nabs
solution was to mount two stiff leg derricks on the roof of the
adjacent boiler building to dismantle and remove the precipitators.
